Alan R. Etkin is of counsel to the firm and his practice focuses on general business matters with a concentration in technology, e-commerce, and intellectual property.
He has extensive experience in advising small to medium sized companies both as an inhouse and external attorney. He has a wide range of knowledge and understanding of issues facing businesses including operations, sales and marketing, technology and product development, complex transactions, alliances and partnerships, licensing, human resources, training, domestic and international tax, financial reporting and analysis, corporate governance and compliance, shareholder agreements, mergers and acquisitions, and in the case of family businesses, being the trusted family advisor on business and non-business matters such as insurance, real estate, estate planning, and trusts.
Mr. Etkin began his legal career as a corporate associate with the highly recognized international firm, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld in Dallas, TX. He then worked for a variety of public and private, large and small, technology companies in a variety of roles including General Counsel, CFO, and CEO prior to establishing his own firm in 2016. Mr. Etkin was a client of Gavin Law Offices for many years prior to becoming of counsel.
Before pursuing his legal degree, Mr. Etkin served as a senior auditor for Deloitte & Touche performing audits and special projects for companies in a variety of industries.
When not practicing law, Mr. Etkin enjoys spending time with his wife and two children and being active in the Raleigh, NC community.
